Just want to put this out there :) I eat fully plant based aka vegan diet about 95% of time. HOWEVER I would not label myself vegan or vegetarian because few times a year and on some special occasions I do not eat vegan or vegetarian. I do not eat dairy or eggs (if I have any other options) as I am highly intolerant to both. I eat fish few times a year and if my friend would serve me a wedding cake with egg in it I would eat it. And now to my point. I believe the reason why so many people are completely put off by vegans is that for a huge part we present ourselves as some sort of sect. Many vegans I know are preachy dogmatic assholes. Do you really think showing people how cruel and disgusting the food they love is, is going to turn them vegan? Fuck no. People have strong emotional bonds to their food. It's lame but that's the way it is. You're not going to turn people vegan by showing them that next quinoa I don't know what something they can't even pronounce and doesn't look tasty at all. If vegans presented themselves less as some militant freaks and more as a welcoming community there would be many more vegans out there. If vegans presented less 'Omg but we are herbivores actually' and more 'Omg taste this stuff I made. It's yummy right? And that's vegan!' there would be many more vegans out there. If vegans presented less 'Going vegan is the only way, nothing less matters.' and more 'Every time you choose to eat plant based over animal products you make a change.' people truly would make a change. And yeah, maybe there wouldn't be many more vegans. There would definitely be a positive impact made for the climate change, much less animals suffering everyday and many more happy and healthier people tough. Just saying.
Oh and btw that's my vegan lunch for today.
