Bringing the Revolutionary Period to life / Explore Three Tun Tavern in Revolution Place
The original Three Tun Tavern was located across from the where the Museum now stands on Chestnut Street in the 18th century. Inside our recreated version of the Three Tun Tavern, you can learn about how taverns functioned as places where Revolutionary ideas and news were discussed. Take a seat at the tavern table and examine reproduction newspapers from the period and read stories on Revolutionary topics.
On the digital tabletops, place replica objects – including a tea cup, a porcelain bowl, a twist of tobacco and a man’s wallet, among other items – on an animated period map to learn where and how they were produced and used, and who might have used them.
Revolution Place is open Weekends from 11-3.
