Respecting a need to rest or to adjust my life to help with stressors and exponential growth isn’t something that comes naturally. I grew up in a family (whom I love, very much) that values alllll the jobs, not having to ask for help from anyone, and handling your business no matter the cost. Spending all of your time and energy towards nothing but work and tasks that you feel somehow obligated to, works out for a while, then you get burnt 🔥 to a crisp (I’m talking about burnout), like I did in recent years (think 12 hour shifts, about 5 side gigs like teaching, business owning, studenting, and fighting 🥊) . Taking time to not only learn to prioritize myself, but to learn what I should even be prioritizing is a journey that’s far from completion.

Choose what you fill your days with wisely. We only get a few, and what we take in/put out determines what those days will be full of. .

As the Quality of Life Ambassador I frequently have to force myself to do things that I know are good in the long-term, but in the moment feel unnecessary. Case in point, this past weekend. I decided to drive up and visit my son's grandparents who live in Lake Tahoe. Unfortunately prior to leaving, I had a complicated and emotional situation with a terminally ill client, and felt the need to tie up all the loose ends before I left town. But no matter how I scheduled all the tasks to get that accomplished, it was clear that it wasn't going to be happening. So I left town feeling incomplete. Making the 3-hour drive, my monkey brain tormented me with all the various things I could get done if stayed home. Everything felt like a sign to turn around. Traffic, having to use a bathroom, gassing up the car.. But once I got past the halfway mark, my brain calmed down, and I can honestly say I felt peaceful and meditative for the rest of the drive. It was a great visit and a wonderful break for my day-to-day life! And it was an important reminder to quiet my crazy brain chatter now and then. I returned home and formulated a much clearer plan for my client, which I was easily able to complete in a day. Am I alone in this or can you relate? 🐒🐒🐒

I think the hardest part about being a SAHM, who runs 2 businesses, is not having anyone to call in sick to.

Yesterday I took TWO “naps”. You know, the half asleep but still awake enough to hear what the kids are doing kind of naps. That is so not like me! All day my eyes felt heavy and burning. The beyond exhausted kind of tired.

I think sometimes, whether you like it or not, your body NEEDS a rest day. Resting is part of the process. Yesterday may have seemed unproductive on the outside, but on the inside, I can feel the benefits of those naps.

My body was screaming at me to slow down. Glad I listened. Ready to get ish done today!

It’s all well and good to be super busy , to not find excuses to not train ... but sometimes one must remember to slow down ... to recharge and rest ... definitely I have to remind my self that I am not Wonder Woman and that an average of 5hours sleep for 3 weeks it s NOT healthy and contro productive !!!! Luck of sleep , day off at some point your body will stop you 🙈🙈🙈🙈!!!! So this is a reminder peeps that it’s ok to say NO once in a while , it’s ok to miss out on a bit of fun or even to much work !!! I always promise myself I ll look after myself better but then .... when I wake up with headaches than I remember ...

Have you ever started a workout just to find that your body absolutely won’t do what you want it to?? I went running while my son was at soccer practice. It was a gorgeous day, 81 and ☀️. I had a cute outfit on, good music all cued up, I was ready to go.

But this look is not happy because my run didn’t go as planned- I did not feel good. My legs felt like lead, and they felt sore, and I had no energy. I couldn’t even make my legs run for 1 complete song!
So instead of pushing through, I kicked it back to a walk. I felt disappointed because I didn’t do what I had set out to do, but that’s how it goes sometimes. Better to listen to my body than risk a flare.
