FOCUS: THE DEATH
Dying in The Ballad Singer will be part of the story, it isn't a "Game Over". In The Ballad Singer, the character's death is always caused by your choices. There are no narrative paths where you don't have alternatives. We want to give full control of the narrative path to the player, this does not mean that it will be easy to survive, a not very wise choice could lead to death in no time. When the character you're using dies, you play as a new character within the same story. This means that you will face a different narrative path. In fact, the plot branches depend essentially on two factors: the chosen adventurer and the actions performed by the characters played before.
We want that every decision is important and reasoned, taking a random choice will often lead to the death of the protagonist. The choices will be ethical, strategic, related to the game world, based on logic and physical laws. There are not always right or wrong decisions, sometimes they simply lead to different narrative developments! (Another focus will be dedicated to the choices and ramifications of the plot). When you do not have more characters available, because they're dead, killed by your decisions, or simply have not yet been met, your story will end. This aspect is not to be seen in a negative way, you have experienced an unprecedented story, known details of alternative history and admired new illustrations.
The concept of "death" we are used to in video games, the "Game Over", is not associated with The Ballad Singer. Replaying the title is a fundamental part of the experience that, if faced without the basic assumptions of each Role Play Game, will be very difficult. In other words, if we can not identify ourselves with the character and behave as the protagonist, our destiny in the world of Hesperia will remain limited and uncertain, otherwise you we will be able to realize the full potential of the adventurers.
