The other day someone told him, "This is one of the happiest times of your life!" & I realized I was still in WORK mode, which meant that he was too. Here's the thing about single-parenting (1 of the things)... There are SO MANY DECISIONS for parents to make in regards to your child(ren), whether day-to-day or life-changing -- being the decision-maker about ALL aspects of their lives can be a bit much (while simultaneously making sure all needs are met, i.e. Roof over head, food, clothing, education, etc.). We have an EXTRAORDINARY village, but the truth is, it's not their responsibility to make sure the thriving is happening. **Thanks Yvette for the poignant reminder yesterday...** I do put a lot of pressure on myself to make the "right" decisions on their behalf, to make sure they are at the "right" place at the right time, & then to make sure that they act "right" when they get there (the last one is actually not hard 🙏🏽). I'm not perfect & my perspective is limited, so all I can do is keep stretching myself to make it happen & LEAN on that Village to help take them to another level.
The flip side is watching this guy flow through both adversity & serendipity with a strong sense of awareness & resilient character. I'm so grateful for the Mann he's becoming... I LOVE YOU @madd.mann!!! 💓🤙🏽🌺🙏🏽 #ResilientAF #CelebrationMode #KMann23
