I know I said my next reptile was going to be a leopard gecko or ball Python which is still true but I'm probably going to be getting an amphibian next in the version of a pacman frog 😍 I keep running across them and reading about them and I'm pretty much smitten lol gonna do some more research before I'm for sure cause I never thought I would get a frog but look at these guys they are adorable! Plus they don't need that much space since they don't move much so a 10 gallon tank is perfect for these guys! 🐸 I'll probably have to wait for the reptile convention I'm going to in august which gives me plenty of time to prepare 😈 #reptiles #amphibians #reptilesandamphibians #herpetology #pacmanfrog #frog #pacman

Requiem for a toad: FOW crew leader, former board member, and current newsletter columnist Dave Dannenberg caught this incredible scene yesterday on the new section of White Trail between Mt. Airy Avenue and Kitchens Lane. The toad's defense mechanism proved no match for this hungry garter snake. #wissahickon #mothernature #gartersnake #americantoad #circleoflife #nature #pawildlife #snakeeatsfrog #reptilesandamphibians πŸ“·: @daviddannenberg

How's this for a dinosaur? This Bull American Alligator (Alligator mississippiensis) must've been close to 12 feet long, the biggest gator I've seen at Brazos Bend! Not only that, but he was right next to the observation platform at Creekfield Lake, so close I could've reached out and touched him! Male alligators are territorial, and it is likely that this guy is probably the king of his territory. We saw some mid-sized gators and babies nearby, so those were probably his girls and offspring. #americanalligator #alligator #gator #gators #alligators #alligatormississippiensis #crocodilian #crocodilians #crocodiliansofinstagram #reptile #reptiles #herp #herps #herpetology #brazosbendstatepark #texaswildlife #wildlife #reptilesandamphibians

It's always a good day when you can help out a herp in need. I found this little Musk Turtle (Sternotherus odoratus) on the edge of Elm Lake in Brazos Bend State Park, where he had a big ol leech stuck to his shell, which I quickly removed with my pocket knife and sent the turtle on his merry way! Also known as a Stinkpot Turtle, these guys are known for the very powerful scent they release when threatened, which I thankfully did not experience! #muskturtle #stinkpot #stinkpotturtle #turtle #turtles #Sternotherusodoratus #sternotherus #chelonia #turtlesofinstagram #reptiles #reptile #reptilesofinstagram #herps #herpoftheday #herp #herpetology #reptilesandamphibians #wildlifephotography #wildlife #texaswildlife #nature
