Tzigane Elliot is a large, 9 year-old, striking dark orange with white tabby looking for a forever home. Tzigane Elliot was adopted and then returned to Purrfect Pals in March 2015 after he developed some undesirable habits. Apparently he was quite upset about something in his new home, but didn’t know how to tell us what that was. Originally, Tzigane Elliot and his housemate were surrendered because their owner was in the military and was deployed overseas.
Elliot is a sweet boy who is sometimes grumpy. Who wouldn’t be after losing a happy home, being rejected and returned from a second, and then spending 3 years in a shelter? Elliot seems to be putting on a tough guy act but really, he’s just a very sensitive boy. If something is bothering him, he will make sure you know that it's bugging him, without lashing out of misbehaving. Once he gets to know you and trusts you, he is a big sweetheart.
Elliot’s hobbies include making catnip angels on the ground, finding the perfect spot of sunshine to sun bathe in and getting scratches behind his ears. He is a smart guy who needs a lot of stimulation and can amuse himself, which is great. The downside is that he is always looking for a new challenge. If you start playing with Elliot from afar and let him do his thing, he will come up for head butts and shin rubs, followed by your being allowed to stroke his body and tail. He wants to be the one initiating contact and calling the shots in his world. He’s a confident, alpha kitty who needs an experienced, cat-savvy person who enjoys an independent, personable kitty. Unfortunately that rules out homes with young kids who would be better with a more melllow, tolerant kitty. As long as they don’t run up, shriek, scream, or get in his face, he’s okay with older, cat-friendly children. Again, he needs folks who are willing to let him do his thing and initiate contact, at least until he’s well settled and comfortable with them. CONTINUED IN COMMENTS
