While pregnant, your estrogen and blood volume shoots through the roof😲 This causes you to have less hair fall while pregnant and many may notice their hair is thicker and fuller than normal. We lose about 50 to 100 strands a day which is normal and our scalp still remains fully covered💁 Because of the increased levels of blood, blood circulation is also increased. We should all know that great blood flow is key for hair growth👏
After having a baby, these levels drop significantly😥 Your body makes up for the time it hasn't been shedding as much and your hair sheds in BIG clumps😒 The amount of hair you will lose will not more than 9 months, but it will appear as so because it is all happening at once. For most women, post partum shedding will stop from 6 months to 12 months.
Sadly there is nothing you can do about postpartum shedding. No amount of tea rinses and topical treatments can help you at all. You have to let it take its course. This is all hormonal😭 But you can do things not to make it appear thin. ✔Skip heat styling because all it will do is thin out the hair more. Air dry instead.
✔ Eat a healthier balanced diet as well as take vitamins for overall health. It won't stop the shedding but your body will benefit from it.
✔Use volumizing shampoos and conditioners.
✔Comb/Brush once a day
Important: If your child is a year and your are still experiencing mass amounts of hair loss, go see a doctor👏
