Reflections of an excruciatingly long rehab & rebuild process.

A little over a year ago this probably would’ve put me on the ground for ~10 minutes between sets. Even pulling 135 conventional would bug me. Conventional isn’t my primary pull, but I would be damned if I was going to be frail.
#
It took months upon months of technique adjustments, resetting with lighter weight or strictly lifting with tempos, and adjusting the way I approached my training and those who I coach.
#
What I can tell you is that if you’re struggling with injuries now.. just keep at it. Keep searching for your answers and solutions. It takes time. But on the other side is the reward of living life on your terms.

Today, a year or so later, with an extra ~200lbs on the bar, we continue to build, one day at a time. I can’t thank @dr.ashtontyree enough for his patience in fixing myself and all of our over-eager lifters who just want to be strong again. Thanks coach. We made it.

I hope you realize this is a time to wind back, quit the high intensity workouts for a little bit, hit a lot of active recoveries, enjoy life outside, do something else and even play some recreational sports.

👂🏽Listen, patients these days are spoon fed FEAR from most healthcare professionals and social media. Rather than take into account that the PERSON in front of them is a HUMAN, or better yet, an ORGANISM within an ECOSYSTEM, they talk to them as if they are their MRI/X-Ray/Symptom(s)/etc.
💥Patient expectations may shape their PAIN EXPERIENCE. 💥If they are expecting a terrible outcome, chances are... They will have a terrible experience.
✅We cannot forget how important it is to REASSURE the HUMAN/ORGANISM.
✅We are more than our images.
✅We have thoughts, feelings, emotions, memories, stress, anxiety, nutrition, hormones, etc that all have an intimate relationship with PAIN.
💥We are not brittle human beings, we are complex organisms that require more than an image to “treat” PAIN.
🔥YOU might be the first professional to offer REASSURANCE to the patient. Take advantage of this.
