I retested Regionals Event 5 today. It's been three weeks since my first attempt and this time was so much better. In my first attempt, it took me 8 of the 11 minute time cap to complete the first round of 21 muscle ups and overhead dumbbell squats. This time I did it in under 5 minutes and gained a significant amount more reps but yeah, still got time capped 🙄😭 I compared the scores I've gotten in the 4 of 6 Regional events with those at the West Regional and I would have had 14th finish on Events 1 and 2, 18th on Event 4, and 26th on Event 5 which put me in 19th overall for those four. Unfortunately I will not be able to perform Event 6 because I do not have access to some of the necessary equipment and still need to do Event 3 so I can't extrapolate where I would have ended overall but I'm not displeased at all. It's comforting to know that even when I did not qualify this year, I still would have been middle of the pack if not slightly better. Can't complain about that. Now I just need to focus on getting there.
I'm stoked with how much my muscle ups have improved in only three weeks, but I know I need to watch and make sure I'm fully extending my elbows at the top. It's a difficult thing for me to judge because I have significant hyper mobility in my elbows and knees so "locking out" is not a good queue for me because the hyper mobility makes those joints super unstable. Have to work on getting to full extension of the joint without over extending.
