Silent, patient, invisible. Assassin bugs are master predators, capable of capturing prey much larger than themselves. Insects in the family Reduviidae use their beak-like mouthparts to pierce their prey and suck out their insides using their raptorial front legs to hold down their prey while they feed. Many assassin bugs are camouflaged to match their surroundings, often either plant-like or flower-like colorations and patterns. Assassin bugs go through incomplete metamorphosis, meaning they do not have a pupal stage.
