Derawan is a remote island located in East Kalimantan, Indonesia. We took 3hours flight to Tarakan, continued with 3 hours boat ride to reach this beautiful place. The water is clear and the sky is blue, filled with thousands of stars during the night. But honestly, this place is getting trashed. More and more plastic waste are being thrown to the sea.
I was hunting sunrise on the beach where all these plastic bottles and bags caught my eyes. I couldn't help but clean it up. I even found baby diapers!
Today is #worldcleanupday2018 Let's take a moment to be responsible with our own waste. Reduce non recyclable and single use plastic usage and slowly switch to more sustainable options.
I know it can be tough to break habits and to change things you have literally been doing all your life but take it one step at a time, concentrate on reducing and everything else will fall into place.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Check out my latest blog on *tip on living without plastic 🏞️🙌

Know someone in need of a treat this weekend?! 😊💐 We've got it covered with our £12.50 posies in glass vases, This one is full of giant headed #cafeaulaitdahlias in a deep pink rose colour...They are just gorgeous!! Bring your vase back to us and we will refill it with a £15 posy for the price of £10!! Bloomin amazing! 😌
My groceries shopping today. Almost plastic free, the 0.90cent pack of strawberries is too good to miss 😅 as for the produce bag there, it's actually an unused cotton dust bag from my purse. It has better purpose now. I also plan to use the Kombucha glass bottle to store my homemade cold drinks. As for a pack of Shapes... it's my son's. Well, one good thing is the packaging are not made of plastic and can be recycled. A little progress for us for not buying a bag of single packs anymore 😊 #reduceplasticuse#reducereuserecycle#reduceplasticusage#sustainableliving#reusable#reducewaste#babystepsprogress
We need a wave of change and a material revolution. Here’s the story behind this haunting video.
It was taken in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic, where Parley and collaborators are working hand in hand with the military and the city council. Over 500 public workers have been mobilized for this cleanup operation.
After three days of cleanups we have intercepted over 30 tons of plastic, but there is a lot more work to be done.
Wherever you are in the world, you can be part of the solution:
Maybe you’ve seen some #reduceplasticusage tips for #plasticfreejuly but you just don’t know where to start...Well here are a few easy ways to reduce your plastic usage •Say No to plastic bags for shopping❌ You can rather invest in CANVAS BAGS that you can get from @cottonon_africa or @hm to put in your grocery shopping ✅ •No need to buy water in plastic bottles and waste your money ❌ Rather get yourself a GLASS BOTTLE that you can reuse numerous times ✅ •Say no to plastic cups/polystyrene cups when having coffee in the morning at the office ❌ Rather get yourself a REUSABLE COFFE CUP at e.g. @typoshop ✅ •No need to ask for plastic forks or spoons when ordering out ❌ Have your OWN CUTLERY in the car for such meals ✅ •SAY NO TO STRAWS❌ •Instead of using a plastic bag to cover your dustbin❌ Use NEWSPAPER ✅ What a great way to recycle your old newspapers!
