JAPAN an imaginary guide
This exhibition is an imaginary guide, a collection of descriptions and notes laid out in the form of a journey through the images of Japan. The guide provides structured knowledge about spaces, meanings, experiences and practices. “Reading” this guide, experiencing it, provides access into the imagination of another, allows to deconstruct, understand, discover another within oneself.
The exhibition also takes the visitor on a journey through the senses – sight, sound, touch. It is a conceptual journey through eight halls, “stations,” each of which explores one of the selected concepts through traditional and new technological art, images, objects, texts, notes. We invite you to journey through the concepts of Emptiness, Island, Garden, Form, Bakemono, The Way, Seasons and Meisho.
