An eastern red bat (Lasiurus borealis)! These look extremely similar to the Seminole bat (Lasiurus seminolus), except the Seminole has deep mahogany fur as opposed to this reddish orange hue. The two species both have white armpits, and the shared genus is characterized by the back side of the tail membrane being covered in fur.
My first red! These suckers will get you excited until the mist net moves even slightly--when it will pop right on out and fly away. They have mastered the art of escaping.
