On the 15th Oct I will be running 10km as part of the Medibank Melbourne Marathon Festival and have chosen to fundraise to support Western Bulldogs Community Foundation (SpiritWest Foundation), I have been a participant in the Sons of the West Program for 4 years and this year was part of the leadership group that helped out to deliver the program, which was a challenge in itself as I was not the most confident or socially comfortable person.
The program itself has helped many men to make changes for the better in their lives in terms of both physical and mental wellbeing and has helped me with my own depression issues as well as allowing me to get up on stage and talk in front of a theatre full of people on graduation night and help some of the guys I met with issues they were facing. Things I never really say myself doing.
Cardio is not something I do much of, however with help of the program and other things I have been making changes in my life to improve things over the last year. In December 2016 I quit smoking and this event has become an opportunity to challenge myself further physically and mentally.
I have progressed from Couch to 10km (with a few rests) in a the last few months and found that running helps to clear my mind and is helping to strengthen my mental health.
Please help me to make an even bigger impact on the day for a foundation and program that had a be impact on my and other peoples lives by make a donation of any size or even just share this post.
