So it's been almost 2 weeks since the DNF at Black Canyon. Found out I strained my soleus instead of me thinking it was a major tear. I'm out of running for ~4 weeks...not happy about it but I did it to myself. Basically just rest, ice, compression, elevation, self massage/go to a masseuse (to break up the scar tissue so it heals correctly), eccentric loading (for those of you who don't know, strengthening the tendons and ligaments), concentric contractions (for those of you who don't know, strengthening muscles), and stretching. But with all of that DON'T push it, if starts to have or keeps having shooting pain while doing this they said for me to go back in. It will get better fast and I'll be back to running/training in no time 😊🏃!
During this time not being able to run, to be honest, it's been rough haha. Yes I'm always doing my best to stay positive, encouraging others to do the best they can be, smiling/laughing but that can only do so much. With running, for me it's like all my stress or negativity that's around me melts away and nothing else matters. It recharges my batteries like nothing else. No matter how tired, burnt out on work/daily life or sleep deprived I am it always gives me that extra boost that I need. "Everyone has downs/falls in life. It's just how you get up and never stop or quit when it happens again."
I know 4 weeks for me without running seems like a lifetime but of course I know it's for the better for me not to push it for my health and my race season ahead. Thank you for those who have given me positive affirmations and helped me in these past couple weeks!
