Throwback Thursday: Feeling extra grateful for wolfdog today. The night before last I came back from a phenomenal trip to Europe. My plane landed a bit late, but I made it to the kennel to pick him up with five minutes to spare. Because of jet lag I went to bed early that evening. Around 9:30. At 1:30 am I awoke to wolfdog howling in agony and repeatedly vomiting foam everywhere. When I called the emergency vet they recommended I come in ASAP, so I drove him over and they determined that wolfdog' stomach had twisted-- a common, but quickly fatal occurrence in larger dogs. He had to go in to emergency surgery around 5 am. When the surgeon opened him up they found that 4cm of his stomach had already gone necrotic, so they were forced to remove it. He got through surgery alright and now he's in the dog hospital, recovering in intensive care. I'm so grateful both that I woke up and that I made it to the kennel when I did. If it had happened while wolfdog was still there he'd be dead.
Hold your fur babies close, my friends. ❤️
