Hi 👋🏼 Happy thanksgiving eve! A few years ago, I would’ve brought or made my own food for the thanksgiving meal, dessert was never an option, & I would’ve spent hours of brain energy thinking about how to not draw attention to myself while eating my own food (it’s impossible). It was exhausting, life sucking, & so far from healthy. This thanksgiving, I’m thankful for healing & the fact that I haven’t once thought about the food that tomorrow holds. The road to food freedom is windy and messy. You don’t arrive at this place where you have a perfect relationship with food and perfect body image. It’s a continuous journey to love yourself enough to not put your worth in your pant size, how many vegetables you eat, or how much you can exercise in a day. But I promise, letting go of all the restrictions you’ve set for yourself is worth it & a much better life is waiting for you on the other side. I love you all, have a great thanksgiving!

It’s common practice to “save up” for the Thanksgiving meal, but not only does that promote over-eating (more than this day does already)-it also negatively affects your metabolism! 🤔⚖️

Thanksgiving has always been my favorite. But there was a time that the day would also be a source of a lot of fear for me. Fear that I couldn’t trust food or my body, fear that I would eat more than I could burn off the next day. That caused me to be numb from the real experiences and memories with friends and family. Being on the other side of that now, I know how misplaced that fear was. You don’t have to workout to earn your food later, you definitely don’t need to “save up” or go without food all day just so you can enjoy what you want later on. You don’t need to fill your plate with just vegetables. This day comes once a year, so take the time to be grateful, to cherish those around you and the abundance of love. Thanksgiving is about spiritual and emotional nourishment, not just physical. I hope you started your day with something satisfying for breakfast, have some snacks if you’re hungry, and be gentle on yourself. Allow yourself to eat your favorite foods, enjoy them, and really savor the time with the humans around you. Maybe go for a short walk with everyone if the weather is nice (it is here in Boston! 🙌🏻) ☀️ remember that this day is one day of 365 days of intuitive eating, so giving yourself permission to over-do it a little is *not* going to derail your goals or health. It’s just not. With my little rambling stream of consciousness done, happy thanksgiving!! 💕💕

Another year older and another birthday in the books!
I always reflect on my birthday and it amazes me to look back on the last 365 days and think about how much has changed. Sometimes it can seem like we’re making very little progress in the moment each day, but as a collective of weeks, months, and years it’s humbling to see what’s been accomplished.
Honestly, I’m really proud of myself for changing career paths and putting myself through grad school. It’s been a wild, crazy year and is not always easy (in fact it can be very difficult), but 100% worth it. And it’s just the beginning of this new chapter—can’t wait to see what’s to come! I know it will be good because I wouldn’t settle for anything less and I have the most incredible people in my life who are constantly there to support and motivate me. I am forever grateful.
Here’s to the next 365 days of chasing dreams and looking forward to each day, one at a time.

Happy Thanksgiving eve! 🦃 We made it to DC and are enjoying some fun family time before all the craziness tomorrow. I just put my mom’s stuffing in the oven (just because I’m not with her this year doesn’t mean I can’t have her stuffing!), and posted the last of my Thanksgiving recipes on the blog for any of you still deciding on tomorrow’s menu - Cranberry stuffed acorn squash. I think I’ve officially ran out of possible colors because tomorrow will by my 10th Turkey Trot! 🏃🏻‍♀️🦃 there are 3 shirts that have been donated over the years (mostly because they were brown, beige, and a dark orange color😂) but think have plenty of these anyways. I love this tradition and starting off Thanksgiving every year this way. There haven’t been many holiday traditions that have stayed the same over the years, especially after my brother passed, but the Turkey Trot with my mom every year has. She just missed last year because she couldn’t fly in until Thanksgiving day but I am headed to the airport in a couple hours to get her so she will be able to do her first Utah Turkey Trot with me tomorrow! 😊who else is doing one?! No matter how you’re starting your day, hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving! 💕

Friends, listen to your body when it needs rest. It's great to be disciplined and to push yourself when you just aren't "feeling it", but understanding when you're physically and mentally tapped out is a whole other story.

Another article from the Academy and some helpful tips for tonight! 🍗 If your the one cooking try to substitute applesauce for oil, margarin in your muffins or breads. 🍗 For dips try fat-free yogurts and creams and cheeses.
🍗 Pack your cart with plenty of vegetables and toss them in the oven. 🍗 For those that are ready to eat :) Do not starve yourself beforehand just because your going to have a huge meal. Have a healthy breakfast. 🍗 Do not eat FAST. Remember it takes 20 min. for your body to be able to understand that it is full 🍗 Portion your plate using the MyPlate guide 🍗 As for alcohol the recommended intake is 1 drink for women and 2 for men. Turkey Trot #10 complete! 🏃🏻‍♀️🦃😊 Best way to start the day. I went into the run saying that I was just going to casually run this because I’m still sore from the marathon and have a hamstring injury. Of course the gun went off and I darted 🤷🏻‍♀️ but got 3rd in my age group!

Up before the sun (the usual!) Sipped my coffee while watching the boys sleep- full on creeper mode. I'm sure you parents out there feel me! ☺️ Breakfast this morning before preparing for family time!!! 2 medium fried eggies, whole wheat avocado toast sprinkled with a bit of white sesame seeds, and a fall hash I whipped up with butternut squash, roasted brussels & sweet potatoes, red onion, & green pepper in some @fourthandheart Himalayan sea salt ghee! Grilled vegan Caesar salad. If you've never grilled lettuce, you need to try it, it makes it so sweet and delicious 🙌🏼 I topped this grilled romaine with a Caesar dressing , recipe below:
1/2 cup raw cashew
1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 clove garlic
Juice from 1/2 lemon
2 tablespoons nutritional yeast
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt + pepper

Thanksgiving 🍁🍗 can be stress-inducing in more ways than one. I spent many years of my life focused on choosing the “cleanest” foods, only tasting each item, checking how much my belly expanded. My attention was so focused on the anxiety i had about what to eat, that i completely missed out on what Thanksgiving is all about. It’s a day to indulge in tradition - being in the moment with your family, unabashedly laughing, eating the foods you love anxiety-free, and yeah, maybe unbuttoning your pants after a slice pumpkin pie 🥧 You can listen to your hunger cues and you can move your body if you’d like. But if you don’t, no worries. There are no rules or repercussions. Take a deep breath and release yourself of the burden to be anything but completely mentally free tomorrow. You’re a human being that deserves to enjoy human pleasures. Food isn’t just nutrition and health, it’s a social ritual! This morning in yoga i had a moment - i apologized to myself for all the years i did anything but love my body.
