When I arrived in Madina, it was after nearly 49 hours of travelling, stopping in three other countries. Do not mistaken this as complaint though. How blessed is it to be chosen to take this journey and endure for Allah's sake?
Yet there is no question I arrived as most Hujjaj arrive: tired, drained, sleep deprived and craving a chance to finally rest.
But this city revives you. It's air calms you and it's aura renews you. As a poet once said: "How can I not feel serenity in a city,
in it the Prophet of Allah resides?" This is the city of Muhammad (ﷺ). In it he (ﷺ) walked with the poor and defended the weak. In it he (ﷺ) embodied the meaning of generosity and lived the meaning of sacrifice. In it the slave girl would take him (ﷺ) by his hand and lead him to wherever she wanted to go.
How can this city, the city of the Prophet (ﷺ), not dissolve the hardship of travel after it dissolved the hardship of hijrah? How can it not calm our emotions when it made warring tribes into brothers?
So when I finally got to my hotel room, I sought something more important than rest. I dropped my bags and went immediately to his Masjid (ﷺ), to pray where he might have stood and to send peace on the greatest of creation (ﷺ). #Hajj2017 #Madina #RasulAllah
