#flexfriday We’ve come a long way. Not necessarily the leanest person around or the most athletic but I pride myself on having an absolutely malicious work ethic. If I say I’m gonna do something I’m gonna do it. The picture is me at probably over 300 lbs. in 2014 and the clip is from earlier this week and we’re now about 178 lbs. A lot of times I get down on myself for not pushing myself to my full potential. I make excuses, get busy, injuries come up. Then I remember to take a step back, breathe and assess. This is 4 years difference and to this day I continue to be humbled but recognize I’ve come a long way. Gotta love yourself, love the process.

Left: Feb 19, 2016 ~210lbs. Right: Today, 186 lbs. This thing we call life is a crazy ride, my friends. And I’ve been through it, let me tell you that. On the left, had lost an initial 82 lbs. yeah it was awesome losing weight but I was disgustingly unhealthy. I was using ketogenic dieting on and off, avoiding fruits and vegetables. My calories were very low (roughly 1800 when consuming carbs). I was abusing Advil, brushing off mobility and stretching, and disregarding body pains. I was a mess. But hey, I lost weight, right? After my first powerlifting meet, I fell into injury with a strained shoulder and hip flexors. I could’ve quit then and there. 9 months ago, I was injured once again. I was involved in an accident that left me with two herniated disks, a sprained wrist, fractured patella, and a severely strained neck (my mobility is no longer 100%). I lost a lot of myself mentally, physically and emotionally that night. In the coming weeks, I could barely lift a thing (doctor’s orders). I fell into a depression once again. I could’ve quit then, too. BUT FUCK ALL THAT. God kept me alive and breathing. I rehabbed my injuries, I’m eating well (all the veggies, ~2600 calories). We’re gonna continue to kick ass on this journey of life. I’m roughly two weeks from my return to the platform and I itching for it. I may not be as strong as I once was but it’s time to dust myself off and keep going. Let’s fucking get it! 📷: @rickyhch

Tonight’s deadlift session! I was able to get back to a 455lb Deadlift and attempted 495lbs but couldn’t finish it😫😂 yes I fail at my lifts as well but now I know where I’m at and start tweaking my program for lots of volume to get that 500+ again!
