This view from my childhood bedroom window. I always took this beauty for granted. Now more than 20 years after leaving home, I can say, I wish I would have appreciated it more. Today, I hear no car noises, no airplanes overhead, no chatter from neighbors (none close enough to hear) and no sirens from emergency vehicles. The only sounds are the wind through the quakies, the grasshoppers clicking as they fly, hummingbirds as they feed at the feeder and a far off hawk flying over head. This is peace, this is stillness, this is home.
