Trying to “eat healthy” this holiday season? I encourage you to consider all six aspects of health. Physical health is important, sure, but if it comes at the expense of your social, emotional, mental, environmental, or spiritual health, then—I’m going to be blunt here—what’s the point? Imposing unrealistic, fear-based expectations on yourself isn’t healthy. Refusing to enjoy foods you really love isn’t healthy. Shaming yourself (or others!) for eating what you (or they) want isn’t healthy.
You do not need to be perfect. Your body does not need to remain the same shape or size all year round, or throughout your life.
Be sweet to yourself tomorrow, and for the rest of this delicious, celebratory season. Be grateful for the food on your plate. Savor each bite. Relax. Breathe. Eat what you want.
