We got to spend the evening watching panalists discuss racism in America, the history of racism, poets and speakers and even an interpretive dancer. After which we broke out into groups to discuss these three discussion points:
_______________________________________

1 - Tell a story about a time you understood you were not white/you were white/you felt your color.
2 - Tell a story about a time you intervened or stayed silent during a display of racism or discrimination.
3 - I commit to ______ in the future to combat racism/inequality.

Join CMA 5/17 at 6pm for a free talk with Photographer Deana Lawson during the final week of the Family Pictures exhibition. Lawson’s work focuses on race and identity. For her large-scale photographic installation, Mohawk Correctional Facility (2013), which CMA acquired earlier this year, Lawson appropriates 46 snapshots that track a young woman and her child’s visits to see their partner and father in a state prison.
