You never know who you’ll run into out on the Monterey Bay. On this day, our run up to the white sharks around Capitola led us to meet these rare fellows. We first saw a northern fur seal, which we can always identify by its massive eyes, small size, and flippers typically held above water. An hour later, we spotted some different looking sea lions, and we quickly realized these were stellar sea lions. These animals are typically found around the Pacific Northwest, BC, and Alaska. From above, we can see these gregarious animals swimming through a sea of moon jellies, which just made this day extra delightful.
