On a whim today, and in near-perfect weather, I decided to walk the Queensboro Bridge for the first time. It's my favorite bridge in NYC, and so I found myself marveling at the architecture up close. But then I started to take notice of the many pedestrians and bicyclists shuffling back and forth. One group in particular (pictured) was so genuinely happy and I'm glad I caught this moment. Gotta appreciate the simple things in life 🙏🏽

City That Wakes Up Early ! #nyc #queensborobridge

First of all cool shot right? That shadow effect happened naturally. Secondly, as I drive over the #queensborobridge, I find out that it is now the #edkochqueensborobridge. Now this is not a political rant I swear, but it brings up something that I've been thinking of now and again. Isn't the whole idea of naming things after people who did their job that they were elected to do a little passé? Not to take anything away from these people and their fine work that they may have done, but how about name them after a soldier or caregiver. This sounds so much like I'm trying to get brownie points here for #mostthoughfulboy but really. These parks and bridges and tunnels were not built by the people who signed the bill into law to pay for them. They were built by people with callouses on their hands. Heck, give it to the engineer. We need more engineers in this country right? Let's celebrate the engineers, maybe we'll have more of them around. Ok- getting down off the #soapbox. On another note, man I love this city. #nyc
