10 years ago today (July 18th, 2018), a movie was released that would change so many people’s lives forever. Although it wasn’t my first Meryl movie, I am well aware Mamma Mia has a special place in so many of my fellow Streeper’s hearts as it was the movie that introduced many of them to our Queen for the first time. A decade later, we have grown up, but the movie is still an ABBA-filled adventure from start to finish. We still ship Donna and Sam more than ever. The Dynamos are still ultimate friendship goals. Sophie still reminds us to never forget where we came from. And we still always want another one. 😉
So thank you to Phyllida Lloyd, for envisioning the all moments that make Mamma Mia what it is, Catherine Johnson, for creating the characters that we fall in love with every single time, and especially, Judy Craymer, none of this would’ve happened if it weren’t for her idea of putting a story to the music of ABBA. And thank you Meryl, for bringing life into Donna; we all know the movie wouldn’t be anything if it weren’t for that ability to do anything you set your mind to.
No matter what happens in the sequel, we will always have the original movie that makes us all want to be a dancing queen. ♥️✨
