Whitetail Prep. In many of your hunting spots, you’re not able to plant a full food plot. But, there could be a solution.
This year, I got permission to a great spot between 2 other farms that I can’t hunt. One of the farms has bedding, the other has a major food source. The property I can hunt has great deer travel moving through it already.
To improve it further, one thing I’m trying this year is to plant some clover in an opening in the timber to draw deer in as they pass through on their way to food or on their way back to bedding. Taking a rake, I exposed dirt in the short grass that was already growing and spread seed. Give it a shot if the situation seems right. Sacrificing $20 for a bag of clover could make your season.
