Speaking of singing contests, let me introduce you Kazakhstan's unsuspecting cultural export to Europe, Kristian Kostov - a half-Bulgarian, half-Kazakh born and raised in Russia who got the second place for Bulgaria in this year's Eurovision with his song "Beautiful Mess". At the age of 14, he was the finalist in The Voice Kids Russia, at the age of 15 he got the second place in X-Factor Bulgaria. He's 17 now and already aced the Eurovision despite being the youngest participant, and he has no plans to stop. Besides participating in contests, Kristian has songs of his own in Russian, English and Bulgarian.
I personally noticed him back in January 2016, when I stumbled upon his striking performance at The Voice Kids' finals. After that I've watched every single video of him in the Voice, discovering that he was participating in the Bulgaria's X-Factor at the time. I forgot about him for a while only to discover the last April that he was representing Bulgaria at the ESC. Which wasn't frankly very surprising, considering his extraordinary vocal abilities
Although his Kazakh heritage is often overlooked, Kristian himself often mentions that he has a Kazakh upbringing in him, as he was raised by his Kazakh grandparents from the mother's side. Which he actually proved by singing a Kazakh lullaby song on a radio live during his visit to Astana (the video's attached). In other words, check him out, he's one of my absolute favourites vocals and just another cinnamon roll.
The videos with him I'd recommend: •Kristian's Blind Audition in The Voice Kids Russia
•Finals in The Voice Kids Russia
•Every single video of him in the X-Factor Bulgaria
•His performance at the Eurovision 2017
•Any of his covers
