WE PLANTED A FOREST! After the opening traditional chants to welcome the Hokulea's arrival, tons of volunteers hiked through and up to Waokele o Honolua. Hiking up the hill was getting harder. Sun was blazing, the trail was muddy and it was sticking to my hiking shoes. As I looked at my shoes, I came into gratitude as last year I was healing up my ankle. I felt grateful for my ankles and legs working together. I started to chant, sing and said peace prayers for the sacred moment to do service. Coming into the present journey rather that getting to the destination. As I hiked I saw rain drew glistening on the tips of the leaves of a tree. When we got up the hill the sun shined on the valley field. Hula dancers were part of the opening ceremony before we began planting. At the cue we all put our plant saplings in the ground at the SAME TIME. That is 3,000 native trees and a variety of native Hawaiian plants getting planted. And like that, humans maximizing their awareness and putting all their mana(energy) into honoring our ancestors and creating a better future for the children. All at the same time. It was a powerful experience. I found it very special to be able to plant the ʻAʻaliʻi, which represent strength and endurance through difficult times. This forest will clean our air and become homes to thousands of creatures. Trees sure do have a holy duty on this earth."May the tree of our life be firmly rooted in the soil of love. May good deeds be the leaves on that tree. May words of kindness form its flowers, and may peace be its fruit. Let us grow and unfold as one family united in love." -Amma (Mata Amritanandamayi)
