Flex Friday 💪🏻🔥💪🏻 working on those pull ups this morning @kratos_fitt after bootcamp omg was hard here I’m using assisted still but pulling most of my body weight!! What!!!!! Getting better. Here is some of bootcamp. 1️⃣ the sled with 75lbs 2️⃣ deadlifts. Bootcamp 8 mins 30 seconds on 30 off. We had cardio along with strength this time was amazing! I LOVE PULL UPS! My absolute favorite exercise. 👌🏼

I used to hate them though because they were SO difficult and I couldn't even do ONE! 😆

Here are some quick tips to increase your pull up game: ⬇️

SLOW ECCENTRIC. Do a 6-second count on the way back down. ✖️

ASSISTED BANDED PULL UPS. If you can already do regular pull ups try doing banded pull ups for high reps. ✖️

💥WHY WALKING PULL UPS?
It’s basically a flashy version of slow pull ups. I’m 260 and do em. So why slow pull-ups?

Let’s talk Time under tension (TUT)
.
TUT is how long a muscle group is under strain during an exercise. .
.
1-20 seconds: Power and Relative Strength (strength gains without an increase in size)
20-40 seconds: Functional Hypertrophy (gains in strength and size)
40-70 seconds: Hypertrophy (size gains independent of strength)
50 seconds or more: Endurance
During slow pullups, muscles exert an equal effort throughout the movement (unlike fast pull-ups get easier at the top, because you've created enough momentum to counteract your weight)

Slower pullups give you a larger effective range of motion (because you can safely almost-lock out at the bottom, and again, you'll be exerting the same effort at the top).
Your form won't suffer - usually the first thing to fall apart once someone begins to do exercises faster is form.the top and on the way down).

Muscles need oxygen-rich blood to continue aerobic respiration (aerobic respiration occurs when your muscles use oxygen to break down glucose for energy; it's about 42 times more efficient than anaerobic respiration (without oxygen), and creates far fewer byproducts, such as lactic acid - which is why you need air to survive). .

Slower pull-ups that go all the way to the endurance side of things create more efficient muscles by increasing the number of mitochondria in your muscle cells.
The downside, of course, is that during training you're going to be a lot more sore than normal

PROGRESS not PERFECTION is how I roll...
Someone pointed out to me yesterday that in two weeks I’ve gone from barely being able to do 4 pull-ups to getting 7 pull-ups in! I had NO idea that my progression had happened in a two week time span—my sole focus has been to up my pull-ups by one every time I try, but I haven’t been keeping track of days, I have a goal: 10 unassisted pull-ups & that’s what I’m working on...
Here are 3 videos: 1 from two weeks ago when I did 4.5 pull-ups (the beginning is cut off due to time constraints), the second one is from last week when I did 5 full pull-ups, and the third is from yesterday when I nailed 7 pull-ups!! 💪🏼

Proof that if you put your mind to something & dedicate time to practice it, you will progress! You’ll never be perfect so stop setting yourself up for failure by setting unrealistic goals—Set a big goal (10 pull-ups) & then a bunch of smaller milestone goals (1 more pull-up then last time) to achieve it!! 🙌🏼 #queenteam #happyhealthyme
