Viele (meiner) PR-Klienten haben den Wunsch, von jetzt auf gleich in ganz bestimmte, oft international bekannte Medien zu kommen. Kann ich verstehen. Oft gelingt das aber leichter, wenn man es zuerst schafft, in kleineren, regionalere Publikationen zu landen. So kann man den eigenen Bekanntheitsgrad langsam steigern und erhöht die Chance auf eine Berichterstattung in den Wunschmedien. 👀

#PRTip If you’re a business (even a business owner), don’t have a private page. I have seen it too many times where pages are private and I wonder the following “What are you hiding”, “Why don’t you want me to learn more about you”. If you’re using Social Media to gain more visibility for yourself and business, make it easy for individuals to learn more about you, your services and products

Should you or should you not pick up the phone when pitching media? I don't believe there is a right or wrong answer to this question. For me (emphasizing ME) calling a media contact is based on our relationship, why I'm calling and knowing if they like or accept phone calls. Most of them don't like phone calls, at least annoying ones.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Within the past two weeks, I've been able to secure media placements by picking up the phone. My initial outreach was via email. I usually follow up with an email, but for this pitch, I knew I needed to speak with the editor/producer. By making the phone call, I was able to secure the media placement. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Plus a great selection of images. PR should always be part of your marketing strategy and the more you do it, the easier it becomes. Suddenly it’s not a chore, story ideas will come and you’ll be more familiar with where to pitch your story. PR takes time, it is a commitment, a minimum of 6 months and up to a year to see maximum results. PR is all about sharing your story, your expertise and being known for what you do. Check out the social media accounts of the journalists you want to pitch. See what they are sharing. See what kind of content they are producing. Listen.

Be sure to follow them. Like posts that resonate with you and share when you can! This will help with name recognition when you do decide to pitch them! It will also give you a way to introduce yourself. Mention you follow them on social and mention something they shared recently that you liked or resonated with you! .
