🔥 A Late Happy Birthday to David Gilmour, born on 6th March 1946, legendary guitarist, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, composer and record producer who joined Pink Floyd as guitarist and co-lead vocalist in 1968. His guitar style is often characterized by blues influenced phrasing, expressive note bends and sustain. Gilmour's solo on "Comfortably Numb" was voted as one of the greatest guitar solo of all time in several polls by listeners and critics. Gilmour's guitar work as being an integral element of Pink Floyd's sound. After Roger Waters’ departure in 1985, David created two further Floyd albums, A Momentary Lapse of Reason and The Division Bell, with Nick Mason and Richard Wright. Gilmour inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005 as a member of Pink Floyd. He was appointed a CBE in 2003 for his services to music, and awarded with the Outstanding Contribution title at the 2008 Q Awards. On 11 November 2009 Gilmour received an honorary doctorate from the Anglia Ruskin University. In 2011, Rolling Stone magazine ranked him number 14 in their list of the greatest guitarists of all time. Additionally, David was voted number 36 in the greatest voices in rock by Planet Rock listeners in 2009. He released his first solo album, David Gilmour, in 1978, followed by About Face in 1984, 2006’s On an Island, which charted at No.1 in the UK and No.6 in the US and the 2015 UK No.1 album Rattle That Lock.
