Hard to go wrong with #gtape on the door flange and #prosoco#fastflash on the sill to make this a nice watertight install. Little bit of housewrap before siding and 1 small piece of drywall before mud and trim. Luckily it was a 2x6 wall so I was able to install a nice insulated header with 2” of foam for a R10 header rather than a huge useless full depth 4x12
This 8’ tall doorwall was sitting a little to close to the ground for my liking so of course it was @prosocoinc#fastflash for the win today. Now I won’t have to worry about water coming in under this door anytime soon. I like stretch tape like Huber zip tape or tyvek flex wrap but a liquid monolithic cote over the sills is always a for sure thing when working with tricky details and different sub-structures especially on old houses. #prosoco#anderson400series#weekendgrind
Feels like progress. Polished concrete is almost a wrap. Trim and doors should be happening soonish, I think. Hoping to see drawings of the stairs for the fabricators. Depending on how that goes, we should have stairs in a month or so.
Yesterday, Hayley and Gary started cleaning the stucco of the house we are working on in Baton Rouge. A few years ago, the house was used as a movie set and the stucco was painted to look old. Unfortunately the paint wouldn’t fully come off with any of the cleaners that were tried. After measuring the porosity of the stucco via RILEM tube (it wasn’t porous) they decided to lightly pressure wash the stucco and look at it all come off!! So satisfying. #rilemtubetest#rilem#batonrouge#pressurewash#historicrestoration#historicpreservation#stucco#porosity#prosoco
