This morning was a pretty average morning in the Morrow household. The usual 5am wake-up from the 10mo, following shortly behind by our 4 1/2 yo, we (my wife and I) tackle this daily routine with finesse and suaveness. Yeah, right. But, we do our best. The diaper is changed, breakfast served, boys dressed, teeth brushed, essential oils applied, kisses given, and out the door to their school/daycare.
When my wife returned home, she sat down at her portable desk and began her workday. Me? I was finishing a bowl of cereal reflecting on my past weekend. As the Youth Director of our local church, this past weekend was our BIG Fall Kickoff, which includes a Parent Night, then the youth stay for an all-nighter, followed by an early morning car wash to raise money for our camp costs.
As we were discussing our weekend apart, we both reflected on areas in our lives that need attention. We're not perfect. We've never claimed to be. But, in that moment, we both allowed ourselves to become completely vulnerable and dependent on the other. There was no judgement from either parties. I saw my wife's need for her husband, and she reciprocated her husband's as well.
She was emotional, as was I. Her heart had been hurting for quite sometime. And honestly, she looked radiant. I fell in love with my wife again, in a moment she would soon rather forget.
Her love for our children is tender and unselfish. Her resiliency to tackle the daily obstacles that ground her are met head on, and her will is exemplified by a belief in one thing... The Source that comes from having a relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
To my wife...
13 I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. - Romans 15:13 NLT
Dear Lord, thank you for being YOU. You're THE SOURCE of strength during our weakest moments, encouragement in our periods of doubt, and our hope when the present moment looks bleak. We ask these things in your Son's name. #daddysdevotional #selfieswithsigns #TheSource
