Finalllyyyyy!! Procreate 4 is here, my new brushes have been released and y’all get to try them! So I better show you how to use them 😝 While I’m working on a more in-depth tutorial (which I’ll be doing this weekend) I recorded a quick mini tutorial using the template and brushes from the Watercolor Lettering Set.
Also - starting from today - I will be doing some fun little giveaways to say thanks for all your support! Anyone who comments on my post will go into a draw and win one of the brushes I have used in that particular post. And it gets better - anyone who comments within a minute of me adding the post will be guaranteed to get a free brush 🎉 (yes I will make sure to not always post at the same time so you all have a chance to win!)
Now for the tutorial:
1️⃣ Import or duplicate the Simple Watercolor template canvas
2️⃣ Open the layers panel and make sure you are selecting the layer that says ‘Writing/Painting’
3️⃣ Write your word with one of the watercolor writing brushes (I’m using the Watercolor Calligraphy Brush here)
4️⃣ Tap the layer and choose ‘Select’ from the flyout menu to create a mask
5️⃣ Create a new layer above the selected layer and start adding your colors with the Wet Blend brush. You’ll notice that this brush mixes colors right on the canvas! What I’m doing here is tap the screen reasonably hard to put dollops of color on the canvas, and then I’m painting over them to blend all the colors together. I could do this for hours and hours because it’s so satisfying 😂 But for this tutorial I had to move on ..
6️⃣ Duplicate the layer and change the blend mode to Color Burn (optional)
7️⃣ Create another new layer and set the blend mode to Overlay. Make sure you still have the selection mask we created in step 4. Using a black airbrush you can now add shadows and really bring out the underlying texture and blends 😍
And done! .
All my new watercolor brushes are now available from my shop - click on the link in my bio for details 😄
