IN PICTURES: The @singaporepoliceforce's protective security command held its #first #mobilisation #exercise on Saturday (Nov 11), where 200 police national servicemen were recalled and deployed to respond to a "key installation" under siege.
The national #servicemen were notified of the exercise at 10am and were given four hours to report to the unit's headquarters, where the exercise was conducted.
This was unlike conventional reservist stints where the servicemen would be notified up to three months in advance that they may be recalled.
"In light of the heightened #security environment, we wanted to ensure that the servicemen can be deployed promptly whenever the country needs them," said the unit's commander Assistant Commissioner Manimaran Pushpanatan.
The #specialist #unit, which comprises a third of all police national servicemen, was commissioned in July last year and are trained to protect Singapore's key infrastructure during peacetime and national emergencies.
