I have decided to auction off "Sculptural Space" in hopes that it will find a new home and we as an art community can come together to help a new non profit get off their feet. Create with Heart was started by Kaitlyn Tucek with her husband Matthew after their experience with their daughter Rowan undergoing three open heart surgeries within the first year of her life, the first being in her third day of life.
The auction will work like this. Opening bid is $150 and each bid will increase in increments of $15. Auction opens starting now and will close at the completion of the piece, that being 3pm, Sunday, December 17th.
50% of the profits made will be donated straight to Create with Heart, with the other 50% used to cover costs of creation. Free delivery will be included to CO residents.
The piece is a free standing wall created over the course of 2 days at the Denver Art Museum and is made using layers of Gouache and latex, as well as old studio drawings, discarded or destroyed art, and studio materials from my practice.
This is the current state of the piece, it will be completed today.
Thank you all for your support!
Create with Heart enhances the lives of patients and families, through meaningful creative activities, by providing an outlet to help explore emotions, increase a sense of well-being, and offer a space to connect with other families during the critical phase of a medical crisis.
Create with Heart is currently in the start up stage. We have begun to pilot the programs at the PICU (pediatric intensive care unit) at Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children, our first partner in the Denver region. We intend to have programs weekly and in hospitals across the Denver metro region by 2018. All of our programs will be facilitated by specially trained local artists and art educators.
On August 3, 2016, Kaitlyn gave birth to their daughter, Rowan. She was immediately diagnosed with four heart defects and had her first open heart surgery at three days old. In her first year of life, she underwent a total of three open-heart surgeries.
