Okay Kristen, I see your posts about morning quiet time with God and I’m intrigued, i haven’t been to church ages or I don’t even know where to start...
1. Make time in the morning for yourself. Get up earlier or find some quiet time during the day. Morning is best - who doesn’t love getting off on the right foot?? At first I cringed when that alarm went off at 5am. Now, I kinda can’t wait to get downstairs, grab my cup of coffee & dive in ⠀⠀
2. Read & Soak it In
Y’all, I am NOT an expert when it comes to scripture or even the stories in the Bible (that’s where my husband comes in handy - he knows ALL of that). I ask a lot of questions and google is my best friend. My Bible also has an awesome list of topics in the back that I use to lookup key scriptures directly related to my prayers. Not to mention, as you use it more you get more familiar with it, just like everything else. In fact, it’s becoming SO comfortable and so reassuring, that it’s not my goto book when I’m frustrated, sad, confused, questioning or even seeking answers about something.
Lemme break down how this looked this morning for me. I wanted to read scripture about Christmas -the birth of Jesus (we are putting up the decorations inside today, so I just thought that made sense). I literally GOOGLED “Best Christmas Related Bible Verses” and started reading each one.... voila!
In the comments you’ll see pictures of devotional I use right now and the Bible that I have! And if you’re local and need a church, join us tomorrow at Hope Church SC (Simpsonville, SC)!!!
