For the next weeks I am gonna share here my series on Portuguese youth all around continental Portugal and Azores. This series was shot in 2014 and it's part of the Project Sea Change which was published as a book three years ago.
This project was inspired on FSA photography project made in the USA after the Great Depression, early 30's. FSA was the first documentary photographic project done in a collective, involving Dorothea Lange, Gordon Parks, Walker Evans and other big names of photography .
The Project Sea Change included 13 photographers and each one covered one country. Apart of me there is Jocelyn Bain Hogg, Maciek Nadrbalik, Benedicte Kurzen, Pep Bonet, Donald Weber, Tommy Ellingsen, Joanna Demarco, Marie von Krogh, Fabien Weiss, Declan Browne, Yannis Kontos and Robin Maddock.
We wanted to document the European Youth in a collective project to understand what are and were the challenges youngsters faced with the economical and social crisis in Europe. If you don't about this project it's worth checking it out. Check the book out.
