The weather looked beautiful. I was briskly walking down to prevent any possibility of missing my bus. I crossed the road with a despair, to have missed that ₹6 ka bus. That sudden moment of despair tranquilised the regret to a happiness when I looked into this Beauty and got drowned to the scenic flood.

Koti Residency or British Residency or "Hyderabad Residency" is an opulent mansion built by James Achilles Kirkpatrick who was British Resident of Hyderabad state between 1798–1805. It is a minor tourist attraction located in the suburb of Koti, Hyderabad. Within its compound there were several quarters, including a zenana (women's quarters) where Khair un Nissa lived. There is also a miniature model of the building in the compound-legend has it that this was to allow Kirkpatrick's wife, who remained in purdah, to see the entire mansion, including the front. This scaled model has recently been beautifully restored.

In 1949 it was converted into a women's college, Osmania University College for Women.

Lord Curzon proposed the construction of a grand building with a museum and gardens. Curzon said, “Let us, therefore, have a building, stately, spacious, monumental and grand, to which every newcomer in Calcutta will turn, to which all the resident population, European and Native, will flock, where all classes will learn the lessons of history, and see revived before their eyes the marvels of the past.” Marvels of the past *slow claps*, indeed, let me rephrase it, Marvels of the past whose existence itself is a mockery of India, I can hear a dialogue from one of my favourite bollywood movie, Lagaan, echoing endlessly from each and every corner of this “Monumental and Grand” structure.

the Asmangarh Palace was constructed in 1885 by the Paigah Noble Sir Asman Jah. It is located on a hillock with a commanding view of the surrounding forest, which served as a hunting preserve for the Nizam and his courtiers. The Nizam was so fascinated by this miniature castle that he became a regular visitor. Sir Asman Jah eventually gave it to the Nizam. The gate of the palace was designed as Crown of the Nizam. #hydarchives #hyderabad #hyd #india #oldphotos #leaders #nizams #heritage #culture #hyderabadheritge #hyderabadculture #britishindia #princelystate #hyderabaddiaries #photography #photo #legacy #sarcenic #building #mansion #kings #leaders #fort #crown #gate #hunting #reserve

Parda Gate of the King Kothi palace. This palace was constructed by Kamal Khan, and sold to Nizam once he expressed his desire for the palace. Initially, Kamal Khan constructed this palace for his personnel residence: Thus the palace main gate, passerby corridors, windows and doors were engraved with the sign of "K K". Later when Nizam purchased this palace, as it was a royal residence now, the young Nizam felt against his pride to have the abbreviations of other nawabs; he passed a ferman and changed the abbreviation "K K" to "King Kothi," meaning king's mansion. Thus the name King Kothi came into existence.

Photograph of a street in Secunderabad taken by Deen Dayal in the 1880s, from the Curzon Collection: 'Views of HH the Nizam's Dominions, Hyderabad, Deccan, 1892'. Secunderabad, twin city of Hyderabad, was established after an alliance between Hyderabad’s Nizam Sikander Jah and the British East India Company in 1798. Following the treaty, secured by Major James Achilles Kirkpatrick, an area north of Hussain Sagar lake was made into a cantonment. Initially it encompassed an area of four square miles and had a population of 5,000 British troops plus several thousand civilians. However, 60 years later it had increased to 17 square miles and had a population, including the armed forces, of 50,000.
