I first came to East Africa when I was 20. One weekend, I took a 30-hour bus trip from Kenya to visit a friend in Uganda. We sat along the banks of Nile eating rolexes and listening to the sound of birds intermingle with MGMT.
Eight years later, I live in the same city I got my first internship at, and I followed the same vast, life-giving river. This time, to Egypt.
Like the Nile, my life winds in ways I can't preordain, and I'm eternally grateful that though I may not know where I'll live in another eight years' time I'm certain beautiful people and places will be near.
