Nobody should have to defend what makes them happy, and definitely shouldn't have to defend how, or who, they love.
While I didn't march in the pride parade this weekend, a lot of my tribe did, and I was there to support them and everyone else who took to the street. Why? Because love is love, period. If there is one thing I believe in with absolute certainty its love. I will embrace it when its easy and fight for it when its hard.
For me, pride is about standing up for love in all its forms. About recognizing that everyone has a right to love however they want to love and to be whomever they are without fear. It was also about standing up to those people who feel their own moral code dictates how someone else should be and should love. It was about standing up to the people who don't think tolerance has a place in the world.
Love takes many forms, and sometimes its shared with more than one person too. I love differently than a lot of people think we are supposed to love, and thats ok.
Yesterday was about being whomever we are, unashamed and fearlessly. “No human relation gives one possession in another...every two souls are absolutely different. In friendship or in love, the two side by side raise hands together to find what one cannot reach alone.” — Kahlil Gibran
