My new bulk food bags!! Lately I’ve been inspired to drastically reduce our plastic intake. I was so proud of the fact that we only have 1 bag of trash a week. I was blind to think that having so much recycling is better. Especially plastic. So much of it is NOT recycled. ♻️I’ve been so inspired lately by @ameliakyoga & @zerowastechef . It saddens me every time I see someone walk out of the store with plastic grocery bags (why?? Just why??? 😭). But I realize we were still buying yogurt, greens in plastic, berries in plastic, cheese, so much PLASTIC! And since making food by hand is something I’m so passionate about, it feels like a nice transition to buy less packaged food, way more bulk. (Anyone have suggestions for how get berries in Montana not in plastic when they’re not in season?). I’m not going to say it’ll be 100%. I’m just saying it’ll be a conscious decision to try. Plus I like making homemade deodorant and salves. And soon Dave will be growing sprouts so we won’t need plastic to get our good greens in. 🌱 As squeaks and I were rolling out our homemade tortillas last night, I felt empowered. It reminded me of being back in Argentina. What’s better than knowing you don’t have to depend on others making your food for you? That something as simple as flour water salt and oil can provide tactile learning for your toddler and sustenance for your family? Plus #hummus made with fresh cooked garbanzos is 💯 and we have these beautiful things called pressure cookers that make it so easy. 🙏 I love being conscious about this. There are so many times in life where we make decisions. We almost always have the choice. Even if we feel too busy to make our own foods, we can still choose to bring our own containers, find places that cook from scratch, and overall reduce consumption of things the earth has such a hard time figuring out what to do with. Yes I have time to do these things, but that’s the power of conscious intention setting and manifesting. Dave and I both work hard to make careers out of what we’re passionate about. We don’t air travel a lot. We keep it simple. And life constantly rewards us with contentment & abundance.
