• THE PRESS HANDSTAND •
I’ve been working on this since January 2018 with my coach @_alexnino_ 💪🏻 I practice with him privately once a week and within a group lesson once a week - sometimes 2 group lessons a week (like this week!) Because I’m pretty darn serious about getting this. 🙅🏼♀️This press is a HUGE goal for me. A few weeks ago, I posted a video of me pressing up (SWIPE LEFT) and I left elated! 😁I spent the day with an enormous smile on my face. But like with most things in life - there is room for improvement. That press was....yes, a great achievement for me. However, (swipe left to see it again), I’m using momentum to get my hips over my shoulders - it was wonderful to actually FEEL what it’s like to press.
But fast forward to today, I now know I can press up with momentum and for me, it’s sloppy - my knees bend, my arms bend. I want to learn the REAL DEAL (like video 1 from today). And that is FRICKIN’ hard! I don’t want to jump up. I want to use my strength that I’ve been building week in and week out so that I actually FLOAT UP. For me, that is the next goal. FLOATING. ☁️ And that is, A LOT MORE WORK for me to do. But I’m doing it. I put in the work - week in and week out - in my sessions with @_alexnino_ and at home late at night, after teaching , whenever I can - EVERY SINGLE DAY. My kids, my husband see me more upside down these days! And I hope to show you guys one day (soon?) my REAL PRESS. And when that happens, this girl will not only be floating into her press handstand but FLOATING on CLOUD 9 too. ⛅️ xxJulie
