TODAY IN ART (VPK A & B): We learned about my FRIEND — Andy Warhol! (See if your child can remember Ms. Katie’s friend! He has a funny last name. 😉) We looked at one of Andy’s art pieces centered around the theme of flowers. I asked students to identify objects in Andy’s painting. We noted the flowers and the grass as the background.
Today, we worked on creating our background and we were able to use an interesting tool: plastic forks! After we discussed safety rules, I demonstrated how to “print” with forks (pressing the back of the fork into the paint, and then pressing onto the paper). This technique created our grass texture.
Tomorrow, we will add our flowers! We are so excited!
