As I am ready to pop at anytime I finally threw in the towel in the beginning of this week with the one on one personal training sessions.
I will have a break from now until 2weeks after the little #Serfinican is here.

I believe in sharing my fitness journey. Not just my fluid lifts but also my struggles. I find it important to not only post my pre preg well conditioned body but also the struggles of working HARD😓 against the uncontrollable reversal of my once fit physique (that's pregnancy for ya 👈🏼). Working out through creating life 👶🏼 has been one of the most humbling experiences. Some days my body wants to work with my mind while other days work against me. Ultimately, what is most important is to CONTINUE WORKING 💪🏼!
No matter how many bodies surround me in the gym more "fit" than mine 🙌🏼 .

I have really been struggling with being at a big gym and worrying what people are gonna think/say about me working out the bigger I get. I think it's a common fit pregnancy fear, especially if you already struggle with anxiety like me. 😅
There is a stigma that working out while pregnant is dangerous and while that may be the case in some particular pregnancies, it normally is not. Every dang time I see a pregnant momma at the gym I make sure to tell her how awesome she is because I know it is hard. 💕

Yesterday was such an incredible moment for me. Before I was pregnant with Summer I was powerlifting. It was my goal to start competing and then I got pregnant. I tried lifting as much as possible but the truth is I didn’t. Yesterday, was my first day underneath the iron since being pregnant and giving birth. What was even more special, is I am pregnant again and was able to squat 225lbs for 10 reps!! Giving birth and becoming a mom has been a journey in re discovering myself and my strength. It’s easy to lose yourself as a mother and a wife. One way of bringing me back to who I am is lifting. With every rep I coach myself to push past my physical and mental barriers. Reminding myself that I birthed a human and I’m strong, sexy and bad ass. How I was feeling today: weak and tired, but I didn’t let it stop me from working out. I’ve had a few comments made to me about the safety of working out during pregnancy or lifting while pregnant. Because I’ve been doing this for years, it is safe to continue. It’s not recommended to try new workouts during pregnancy, which I’m not. The weights I’m using are also very light compared to my typical regimen (partially due to the fact I was unable to lift for my entire first trimester because of hyperemesis gravidarum and losing 9% body weight in 2 weeks), so factoring in pregnancy, balance, and muscle loss, this is where I’m at. Benefits to prenatal exercise include but are not limited to: better blood flow for you and baby, reduces aches and pains, constipation, bloating, and swelling, helps prevent preeclampsia and gestational diabetes, improves posture, muscle tone, strength, and endurance, helps you sleep better, and helps during delivery. Lifting has personally helped me with sciatic pain strengthening my back and hips as they grow to prepare for baby’s growth. There are, of course, warning signs to be mindful of which I am during every workout and have never encountered one. This is a space I can clear my mind and get stronger both mentally and physically. Growing a child is not easy. It’s exhausting. But it’s also more exhausting for some of us to do nothing for 40 weeks or to take a prenatal yoga class than it is to be where we are comfortable and where we thrive in the gym (after all we’re not supposed to start something new, right?). I’m hoping by posting my pregnancy workouts it will help minimize this crazy stigma around lifting while pregnant being harmful. Harmful is gaining 70lbs of fat and being lazy. We’re pregnant, not fragile! #irontherapy
