. Pilates teaches you discipline, control, precision of movement and how to breathe! In fact, if it wasn’t for my Pilates Breathing (lateral or thoracic breathing) I’m not sure how I would have got through labour! 😫.

. For me Pilates gives me that escapism that us busy mums sometimes crave!! I can literally walk into a class with the world on my shoulders and a billion things running through my mind and then leave with a clear head, feeling revitalized and like I’ve given my body the most amazing treat ever. 😍🙌.

. After my second baby I wasn’t as able to get to class, so I practiced on my mat at home whilst Olivia sat gurgling in her bouncy chair and it’s what got me both mentally and physically through the postpartum stage.

💥Hip Pain?!💥 This may be one of the missing components contributing to your discomfort -- weak hip abductors and extensors. Whether your a runner, avid exerciser or sedentary individual - chances are your not working the deep intrinsic muscles of your hip! These muscles often become inhibited because the majority of your day is spent sitting on your 🍑🙊 and then when people do go and exercise they tend to focus on the BIG muscle groups, completely neglecting the smaller intrinsic muscles that help to stabilize everything together! .

Try these moves (30s each - repeat 2-3x) to wake up those deep intrinsic muscles, help stabilize your pelvis and allow you to move with improved form. .
🍑Opp knee to elbow - (flex your foot and press through your heel).
🍑Tiny circles (leg turned out slightly, toes pointed, some size movement; perform CW then CCW).
🍑Donkey kicks.
🍑Pulsing heel press (bring heel toward butt as far as you can to engage your hamstring as well).
🍑Same knee to elbow/oblique crunch (leg turned out slightly).

✨Three key 🔑 things here: 1. SQUEEZE your glutes with every rep to really wake up and engage those muscles. 2. Make sure hips stay tucked under so your back stays flat and your abs are engaged (belly button to spine) the entire time. 3. Perform each rep slow and controlled (video sped up 2x).

*As mentioned, this is only one piece of the puzzle. Ongoing pain is your bodies way of telling you their is something wrong. It is best you are assessed by a medical profession (like a PT 🙋🏻) to determine the underlying issue if you pain persists.

Den tunga sanningen: det är så här det ser ut när en gravid lipödemiker i v. 35 gör BB Sumo Deadlifts.
Ingen vacker syn!
Men jag är ändå så stolt över min kropp som klarar av detta med både graviditet och träning trots den där vätskan som ligger ”i vägen”. Jag får vara stolt över mig själv de gånger jag orkar ta mig till gymet, och visa att även om jag inte är någon @melissa_hartwig (my gawd, your videos on insta stories inspire me so much! Love them!) så tränar jag ändå och får visa upp det och vara lite stolt☺️💚

Orkar inte längre skämmas över min kropp, över utseende. Jag vill att vårat barn ska få en stark förebild, att vi alla kommer i olika storlekar och man klarar väldigt mycket ändå! Så inget mer fat-shaming på mig själv (och jag vet att man har bättre och sämre dagar), mer kärlek! ❤️

Det var skönt att köra ett helkroppspass idag. Det behövdes efter en vecka hiatus från gymet och alldeles för mycket god mat och skit.🙈

The ugly truth: this is what it looks like when a pregnant woman with lipedema do BB Sumo Deadlifts in week 35.
Not a pretty sight!
But I am proud of my body that manages to work out despite all that extra liquid and protein rich fat, and I have to be proud of myself the times I manage to get to the gym.
I am no @melissa_hartwig (my gawd, your videos on insta stories inspire me so much! Love them!❤️) but at least I am doing something about my lipedema and keeping healthy during this pregnancy. 💚

I’m tired of fat-shaming myself, and even though everyone have good and bad days, I need to start looking at my body with gratitude and show our future child that beautiful isn’t just what you look like on the outside, it’s all of you! And the body is an amazing temple that carry us through life.
