Been slowly building on my workouts, listening to my body and adding in more movements as I get back into fitness post baby. Here's what I did:
.
5 sets x 10 reps of deadlifts (climbing)
Heaviest I did was 135lbs (usually would be like 175) .
.
10 MIN EMOM: Complete in same minute-
10 KB Swings (26lbs)
10 Back Lunges .
.
Finisher- 3 rounds of:
Rows x 1 MIN (35lbs)
MB Slams x 1 MIN (20lbs)
Bridges x 1 MIN (bodyweight) .

2 days without working out and I felt so off! Crazy how that happens 😊 — I’ve realized I lose my breath easier during workouts though and want to be more conscious of that and also lifting things and overexerting myself — I always tend to push push push. Heading towards 7 months pregnant is no joke though! // Let’s continue to dive into the pregnancy workout information out there 🤰💪 — which a few weeks into my investigating and I’m still getting mixed information. I’ve been working with @fpc.nyc ( a studio in SoHo, NYC) that specializes in pregnancy fitness. They started a great series on their blog that I wanted to share an excerpt with you though:
THE MYTH: It’s safe to continue doing all the same workouts you did before pregnancy.

FPCs answer:
We always say, just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
We want you to continue your favorite workouts, but you need to continue doing it with more intention, better posture and a deeper understanding of how to incorporate your entire core from the diaphragm to the pelvic floor. Your comfort during pregnancy and postpartum recovery depend on it.

When other gym members have your back 😃✨ Prescribed workout:
10 min EMOM/
10 wall balls + 7 burpees (yikes)

What I did:
10 min EMOM/
10 wall balls + 7 incline push ups

This gave me enough time to recover & control my breathing each minute while still doing a good amount of work. Exhaling as I decent in my squat and throughout the push up movement as well. Remember that this level of scaling is what’s good for me. I don’t have any signs of diastasis and I’ve figured out how to activate my transverse abdominis throughout movement. I’m sending @nikki_theboom videos like “am I okay??” 🙈 she’s like you look good babe. I would not do things that put Smith or myself at danger. You don’t love my baby more than I do 💁🏼‍♀️haha, believe me. We are safe. I am educating myself constantly. I was a competitor so this “level” is very safe for us.
Moms, advocate for yourself. CrossFit coaches/trainers don’t always know the best substitute to give you! They just don’t. I hope we start learning and applying more but until then pregnant women have to think for themselves TOO. Play it safe now so you can play it big later. 👍🏻 #34weekspregnant #pregnantcrossfit

I forgot {read: haven’t had the energy or desire to} to post the other day about the bump update. And almost didn’t want to because I have nothing impressive to report. At first I was embarrassed to admit my lethargic mood...but, then I thought, HOW many women beat themselves up on the regular for not being ‘super woman’ in the last weeks of pregnancy?? Whenever I post it’s never my intention to say, “Look what I can do!” But, rather to encourage, inspire and offer hope and strength. So here it is: 37 weeks and 5 days and I’ve not run in 2 weeks. Oddly enough I have not had the ‘want to’. We had a week of sickness in our home. Then a a few days of snow, stuck on our hill at home...Some women can run straight through 40 weeks however, I find I’m much too uncomfortable (BH contractions and loads of pelvic pressure. Does this mean baby is coming soon?!?! Wishful thinking...) I did manage to weight train twice weekly and have been walking some. Just not near enough! Add 3 am pb&j sandwiches and I’m packing on a few extra pounds. 🙊 Baby is growing strong and perfect though!! And she’s giving me lots of fake {although technically not ‘fake’ ... more like prelabor} contractions that are growing in intensity. So I’ve been relaxing a little more {read: way too much HGTV...} eating as well as possible {minus the pb&j} and prepping the house.

AND YOU KNOW WHAT? There’s absolutely nothing wrong with my body and where it’s at. If I need more sleep and less worry about ‘being fit’ then so be it. I will honor my body.

• 8 ( on ea/s) Curtsy Lunge with a front toe tap ( I can't really reach my toes 🙈but if you can go for it)!

• 8 ( on ea/s ) Back lunge + leg raise with a bicep and press.
.
• 8 Deadlifts w 3 rows ( perform one deadlift then stay for 3 rows = that's 1 rep).

This was Oct. 17, 2017 when we announced that we were expecting! If you haven't started a #pregnancyboard I'm telling you it is SUCH A fun little addition to our #pregnancyjourney! My fiance, Jonathan (whom you'll get to know very well bc he's extremely active in this pregnancy) ordered me this chalk board and liquid chalk markers from #AmazonPrime and I went all #creativemommy on it. A quick trip to #micheals and I was good to go! I used adhesive jewel tape for the border and peel and stick letters for #BabyWill and TODAY. The rest is hand drawn but you can use all the stickers you want. It's hard to remove them so I'd go minimal with them. #mommasgotskills #artsymama I hope you enjoy this idea!

WHY IS SUPPLEMENTATION ESSENTIAL DURING PREGNANCY?

While you are pregnant you are in a deficit of your minerals and vitamins because most of them you will transfer to your baby and if you are deficient then your and your baby health is not optimum at all, far from it.
Because giving birth is so physically demanding, it also nutritionally demanding and your stores of vitamins and minerals will have been fully called upon.
All your vitamins and minerals will be stored in the placenta so if placenta stew doesn’t appeal to you, then multivitamin and mineral supplements need to be present in your diet.

I can not tell you have amazing it felt to get back to lifting some heavy stuff and not feel like I was going to pass out! And before people start panicking, thinking I shouldn’t be lifting, the answer is you should do whatever you’re use to and whatever feels right, saying that, I didn’t go crazy. 70kg Sumos were perfectly ok for me and the bump to start with. I know you have to be careful training when pregnant, but you don’t have to stop doing things you love...and don’t let anyone else tell you so. You know your body better than anyone else! I intend to train throughout my pregnancy if possible, and know several mums who’ve done the same and have very healthy babies and their sanity intact 🤪 kinda.
