There are some new faces so I wanted to take a minute and introduce myself and my family! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My name is Ashlee and I am a wife and mama to 3 little people and 3 babies in heaven. Oliver is 3, Elliott is 2 and Nora is 7 weeks! Here are 5 things you may not know about me:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. I grew up in California and miss it every day. If my husband woke up one day and said lets move back, I would pack up in a heartbeat!
2. I LOVE to bake! But I really dislike cooking... dinner time is a regular struggle!
3. I ran a marathon in 2010!
4. In high school and college I wanted to be a long term missionary over in Africa and/or the Philippines
5. If I could take a vacation anywhere, it would be Italy... the rolling hills and quaint little towns 😍
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now its your turn! Tell me 3 fun facts about yourself! 👇🏻

Exploring feelings with loose parts. This led to some really good discussions about how we have all kinds of feelings. Walter found it easier to show the feelings with his facial expressions rather than loose parts. This led to talking about not letting feelings be in control of our actions. He told me when he’s angry he wants to yell and stomp. I shared with him how I want to yell or use a mean tone when I’m frustrated or impatient. (Mama confession: I *still* need to practice not letting my feelings control my actions!) We’ve been practicing preaching out loud to our hearts. (“Heart, I know you’re frustrated, but that’s no excuse for speaking in a mean tone. You have been shown gentleness and patience, and now you can show that to others.) It’s hard! Especially to realize and stop in the moment. I’m thankful that God gives more grace! #reggioemiliaapproach #preachingtomyownheart #leadbyexample #playbasedlearning

"Even Now" is a phrase I repeated to myself often when I was walking through my grief. Actually it is a phrase I repeat to myself even in this season of life. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This coffee mug was designed with the intention of following you room to room with the reminder that even in all the unknowns of this season, the sorrow and the pain that accompanies a loss like this is known by God. That even now, even in all the questions and the brokenness, He is good and He is faithful!

Between now and September 28th, take 10% off the "Even Now" mugs in the shop! Use the code FALL2018 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Head to the link in my bio for details!

“I believe in the deepest parts of my heart that we were all made to live in a world where we are understood and wholly loved. To give it all without fear of our love returning void. It's a legitimate longing to be at peace with everyone —especially those we care for the most.
But that's not the world we live in. Until we see heaven, we're all just human. Faults and all. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So, if we want to live light-hearted instead of anchored by hurt, we have to let it go.
If we want to love others without reserve, we have to let it go.
If we want God to take us on a journey of healing and wholeness, we've got to trust Him when He says it's time to move on.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I wrote those words almost a year ago when I began walking through some of the most painful conflict I’ve ever dealt with. I spent months writing a blog post as I processed what it meant to let the Holy Spirit loosen anger and judgement from my heart. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I actually forgot that I’d written that post until I stumbled upon the draft yesterday morning. It’s interesting to look back months later and see how God can turn frustration into peace when given the time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you’re working through conflict too, this might be a good read for you. At the very least, it can serve as a hand to hold as you let God walk you out of the chaos of conflict into a place of peace. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
On the blog: Why I Never Gave You the Letter I Wrote (& a Prayer for Conflict) —link in bio.

I was reading a Little Critter book called "Being Thankful" last night with my kids. Throughout the story, Little Critter sees something he thinks is better than what he has and grumbles and wishes he had other shoes, scooter, etc. On each page we talked about what he DOES have to be thankful for.
What a lesson for big people too, not just for my kids, but for me. When I start looking around at what everyone else has or is able to do, and start coveting those things, I stop being thankful for what I do have, for all God HAS done, and it grows discontentment in my heart.
Lord, help me continually be THANKFUL for every good and perfect you have given and be so filled with GRATITUDE that my heart would be content and trusting in You alone. .

Hey momma who feels like a failure.
.
You aren’t. Don’t listen to that lie.
.
We aren’t going to be perfect, I know it was a bummer to me when I found out too. .
I don’t want to mess up, hurt people unintentionally, or be inconsistent with my kiddos. .
But I will. Probably today. It hurts my heart and the enemy likes to convince me that I should be ashamed and wallow in that place.
.
BUT GOD, who is rich in mercy!! Praise His name. .
Keep your eyes on Christ. Loving him, knowing him and say “I’m sorry” as often as necessary.
.
Then let’s move on in the truth that we are Holy, righteous and redeemed!
.
Happy Friday friends!

Happy Friday friends! 🌵
I hope you are looking forward to the weekend
🌵
I’m remembering my roots today and celebrating the lives of two sweet friends who went to heaven this week 🌵
Steve- I’ll always remember Monahans moments, your laugh, your camera, and the way you could tell a story 🌵
Herman- I’ll always remember your hospitality, your warm smile, and the way you taught me to greet and love others without knowing them first by always giving up your seat 🌵
LOVE ON YOUR people this weekend 🌵
Slow down and be present 🌵
Give all the hugs - and don’t hesitate to say the important things & simple I love yous 🌵

Sadly in this broken world, children grieve too. Yet, even their sorrows can be a platform to them knowing more of who God really is.
Sweet E talks about baby June, who we lost in pregnancy, most days and last night “composed” some music : “Baby June was born after me. She’s in heaven and safe with God. I’m safe too on earth ... repent of your sin and you will be saved, once I was sad, but now I’m happy “
He told me he played this loudly on the piano as he’s so happy to know baby June is safe in heaven with Jesus.
So friends, I wanted to try and encourage you to embrace and persevere in the trials you are facing. Use the hard seasons to teach your children truth. Yes, some days as you speak truth to them you’ll be preaching to your own aching and broken heart as much as anything else. But even the greatest disappointments in your family’s life can be used by our glorious God in ways you least expected.

Red sky at night, sailors delight.🌞

@masonneufeldphotography captured such a whimsical light on this night that matched them perfectly as they playfully jumped around in the ocean. The wind was whippin’ hard but every single person had a smile on their face! It was a dreamy night to be making new friends! 😘 @masonneufeld .

Have you ever had one of those days where you just felt like you weren't cut out for this? 💔Today was one of those days for me. The little hearts in my home were at each other today. Sometimes #motherhood feels like too big of a task for anyone. Well it is!🙏🏻 Which why we need to lean on a wise all knowing God and trust his plan for us. He put these little ones in our care for a reason. He knew we were perfect for them and they were perfect for us, in all our imperfection. So tonight I am asking him for wisdom and strength to keep doing the hard things, keep trying to reach their hearts and not just train the behavior. He gifted them to me and I need to do my best with his help. 🙌Together, we will all become who he meant for us to be.
P.S. (Therefore, I escaped for a few minutes during ballet practice to feed my body this yummy juicing blend).😃😘 #traininglittleheartsishard

Men, if you think chauvinistic behavior and attitudes are not apart of the church, I’m begging you to reconsider. If you think that ALL women are called to submit to you, or if that attitude creeps up anywhere in your thoughts, please consider the possibility that, at the very least, you’ve been influenced by chauvinistic attitudes in the church.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am called to submit to my husband and to show reverence for church leaders. I’ll be darn if I submit to you just because you’re a man. 🙄 #blessyourheartyoureinseminary

The Lilia Grace Gift Bundle is a perfect gift to give a mama who has miscarried. So often friends and family want to be a support but they just don't know what to do. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A dream I have of Lilia Grace is that it would not just be a place for women to come as they walk through their miscarriage, but that it would also be a place friends and family can come to gain wisdom in how to love those around them who are hurting. Here is a a snippet of an email I received from a customer: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"My friend recently experienced a miscarriage and I just wanted to say how thankful I am for this ministry. As someone who does not know what it's like, it's hard to know what to do, except pray. I have been able to share your ministry with her and love her through your ministry. I just wanted to make sure you knew how valuable and impactful this is, not just in her life, but mine too. I feel better equipped to help and love her, and we all get to experience the beauty and blessing of community together."
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Offering love, support, understanding, and the occasional tears are worth so much to a grieving mama. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So dear sister, if you are a friend who has never personally experienced loss in this way, know that your words still matter. The hope you can offer through Scripture and wisdom can make a lasting impact. And sometimes the only support your friend may need, is a huge hug and a safe place to cry and let go of ALL the things she is feeling. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And if you are a gift giver consider any of the items in the shop! They were all designed to be both a gift and a source of encouragement to the weary heart.

Shout out to all the mommas doing some really hard work. The days are long but the years are short.
.
The Lord is using all that you do to make an impact on those little hearts. You are doing great work for His Kingdom within the walls of your own home. You are shaping and making disciples.
.
Stay strong in Him. Rely on Him for all that you need. Your labor will not be in vain. ♥️

My sister is getting married this Sunday, so we made our way back to southern Colorado! ✨
It's going to be a fun and crazy weekend, so I'm taking a little time to rest this morning. All I want is a cup of hot tea and an open window to smell this rain and feel the cool, fresh air ❤️🌲☕️ #homesweethome

Have you ever considered the power of one lovely thought?
.
One lovely thought can inspire a symphony. One lovely thought can spark a romance. One lovely thought can give rise to a movement. And as Peter Pan would tell you, one lovely thought can make you fly!
.
That’s why I’m starting a series called “One Lovely Thought.” Each week, I’ll ask a different sister in Christ to share one lovely thought—whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable—about her mom or dad (Phil. 4:8). It’ll be a beautiful scrapbook of bio parents, adoptive parents, step-parents, in-laws, good parents, and even bad parents—filled with lovely thoughts that honor our parents and honor Christ.
.
My prayer is that these lovely thoughts would inspire healing, joy, restoration, and obedience in your own heart. Because a lovely thought is like a seed. It has the potential to take root in our hearts and minds and grow into something even lovelier.
.
Here’s my mom, Chris. As a child, I always knew she was at my school when I heard the clickety clack of her heels in the hallway. Her footsteps were firm, fierce, and familiar.
.
Isaiah talks about the beautiful feet that bring the good news. Have you ever thought of the shoes those feet wear? I imagine some wear walking shoes. Others might wear ballet or tap shoes. My mom wears high heels.
.
She is no wallflower, and she clickety clacks wherever she goes. Her idea of bringing the good news is thinking up a whole children’s program curriculum or organizing a schoolwide shoe drive for kids in the Philippines. She goes big, and she inspires others to go big with her. Thank you, God, for my mom’s high heels!
.
That’s my lovely thought. What’s yours? Share in the comments or better yet—let me know if you’d like your lovely thought featured in the future! 💜

God is bigger than every issue you will ever have to face, and you can do whatever you need to do through Christ who strengthens you. #beautyingrace @newlife.tv @themessyartofmotherhood

From Sarah…
Sometimes I feel swamped in my always-growing list of to-do’s. With so much going on at once, it’s easy to get caught in the busyness, losing sight of why I’m doing things.
.
“Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.” Colossians 3:23.
.
WOW. How freeing! I’m #preachingtomyownheart right now. How beautiful a thing it is to set my eyes on Christ: in finishing up today’s work, in making dinner for my family, in conversations with friends. How it changes everything! .

.
I’m curious to know: what verse(s) help you focus back on the Lord when you get caught up in the busyness of life?

I took a self-care day on Tuesday. And I spent most of my day at Barnes and Noble, writing.
.
I love to write. I don’t feel like myself without it. And lately, it just seems to be pouring out of me. And when that happens, my only course of action is to write it down.
.
So there I sat, putting pen to paper, with no particular agenda. And before I knew it...I had a list of all the risks I’ve ever taken. It came out of nowhere. And man, was that list LONG. Not only that, but the memories of each one were so very VIVID. Like the time I moved to Los Angeles, without a penny in my pocket (or a job for that matter.) But looking back, amidst all the memories, one detail didn’t seem to matter much at all. And that was THE OUTCOME.
.
It was a curious thing to realize. But as I thought about eack risk...each terrifying experience... they all had one thing in common: The outcomes were IRRELEVANT.
.
It didn’t matter if I failed. It didn’t matter if I SOARED. Heck, It didn’t matter if I fell flat on my face. What mattered was that I tried. I did it.
.
“I DID IT.”
.
There might be no better words in the English language. And they should always be our goal. Because, sadly, by the time you think “I wish I had”...it’s usually much too late.
.
Be brave, y’all. Don’t get hung up on the outcome. Because it’s about so much more than that. We are the sum of our EXPERIENCES, my friends. So we might as well make them WORTH IT.
.
Food for thought on this beautiful Thursday. Here’s to going for it. Here’s to choosing the risk. And here’s to the women we become along the way.
.
(Spoiler alert: LA didn’t work out. And I miiiight be a little grateful. 😉)

One of my best friends, Julia, walked by my side during our losses. She lived across the country from me but that never stopped her from texting, emailing, calling to ask how I was doing and encourage me with gospel truths whenever she could. After our losses she saw a change in my heart toward the Lord. What once was a deep love of studying the Word and pursuing Jesus, became this bitter and angry heart. Refusing to even pick up the Bible. She could have given up on me but that never stopped her from texting encouraging scriptures and asking really tough heart questions. Looking back, even though my heart was turned off at the time, I am eternally grateful she continually pursued me and poured out the love and hope of Jesus. The Lord used her ministry to guide me back to Him. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As I have been reading through an article written by David Powlison, I came across this quote that reminded me of my sweet friend and her ministry to me during those hard years. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "What makes you willing to bear the cost of bringing mercies and comforts to troubled and troublesome people? Faith in Christ performs a highly unusual cost-benefit analysis. "This light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison" (2 Cor. 4:17). God gives shining reasons--- true grace and peace, the resurrection, the promise of life, the inexpressible gift--- that change the weight and duration of afflictions. These reasons make you willing to suffer in order to care for your brothers and sisters in whom love will triumph over sin, and life will triumph over death." ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Friend, if you are walking with someone who seems to be shutting you out, keep going. Keep walking with her. Keep showing up and showing her the love of Jesus. Keep encouraging her with the gospel. The hope we have in Christ is too important not to share. Even in the midst of your friends anger, questions and hurt. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Have you had a friend not give up on you? Tag them below and say thank you!

🌺Personal Development 🌺 today i was listening to a podcast and i realized that our lives (mine included) is like a garden. If i want luscious, green, overflowing, beautiful, fresh, clean plants and flowers then I need to take care of it. 🌷🌸🌳🌻☘️And yes, sometimes taking care of it means you are allowed to be selfish too. If i want all of the above then i have to be willing to do the hard labour. Rain or shine☀️🌧 i have to be willing to be on my hands and knees, pulling out those nasty weeds (problems in our lives). Or something that doesnt belong in our garden (like people, bad habits, addictions). Those have got to get dealt with, forgiven and put in the past. The thing is.....if i want to help other people with their garden then i have to make sure my garden is on the right track of staying clean, oranized, weed free and overflowing. I will never be perfect, nor do i want to be perfect,💙 but if there is something in my garden that is holding me back, making me afraid, something i am NOT happy with....i need to deal with it. I learned that the hard way.....you cant out run our problems. 💔 They either follow you, they blind side you, they take you down to the ground and they make you all around depressed. Im stressing....DONT let it get to this point. 💚If your garden needs work - no time like the present ☀️🎁 GET TO IT #preaching #preachingtomyself #preachingtomyownheart #mentalhealth #success #bepassionate #green #blue #nomorefear #makeaplan #plan #changes #changestartswithin #personaldevelopment
