Wheel Turning Day — 27th July 2017 — Choekhor Duchen (Choe - Dharma, Khor - circle, Duchen - a special day) "Turning of the wheel of Dharma"
This day Tibetan Buddhists across the world celebrate the first "turning of the Wheel of Dharma," recalling the day when 2,500 years back 'Shakyamuni Buddha' gave his first teaching after enlightenment, in Sarnath, India.
From that day to now the Wheel of Dharma has been at work incessantly through the hands of Buddhist Sangha.
It was this day when "Tathagata Buddha" gave the first teaching of the 'Four Noble Truths'
1. Duhkha-satya : The truth of suffering, which is to be understood,
2. Samudaya-satya : The truth of the origin of the suffering, which is to be abandoned,
3. Nirodha-satya : The truth of the cessation of suffering, which is to be actualized, and
4. Marga-satya : The truth of the path to the cessation of suffering, which is to be relied upon. "The essence of the Buddha's teachings is expressed in the Four Noble Truths... By understanding them, we'll enter the path to liberation and enlightenment." -Thubten Chondron.
